It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Thomas Allen Penland (Murphy, North Carolina), who passed away on December 22, 2020, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Silvy Penland and Allie Ashe Penland; his siblings, Aud Penland, Hoyt Penland, Kieth Penland and Nancy Louise Swaggerty; and his stepson Kevin Welch.
He is survived by: his wife Sarah Jane Penland; his daughter Jennifer Carter (Mark); his grandson Davis Carter (Erin); his stepsons, Derek Welch and Nicky Welch; and his stepgrandchildren, Dakota Lanning, Jade Welch, Nate Welch and Jared Welch. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested for donations to be made to Hayesville High School Science department, 205 Yellow Jacket Dr, Hayesville, NC 28904.
