It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Thomas L. Leatherwood Jr. of Murphy, North Carolina, who passed away on May 30, 2021, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Lee Sr. and Lola Mae Palmer Leatherwood; and his siblings, Mildred Leatherwood-Outland and Maynard H. Leatherwood. He is survived by: his wife Joan Ownbey Leatherwood; his children, Lori Leatherwood Payne (James) of Murphy and T. Lee Leatherwood III (Sondra) of Macon, Georgia; and his brothers, Robert M. Leatherwood, Sidney L. Leatherwood and Johnny G. Leatherwood. He is also survived by six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and many other extended family.
