He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Powell and Beulah Powell; his sister Dorothy Morton; and his grandson Colton Alexander Brisson. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Powell; his daughters, Debra Borchers (William) of Cape Carteret and Teresa Saranichole Spangler (Donald E. Spangler III) of Taylorsville, NC; his brothers, Richard Powell and Bobby Powell; his grandchildren, Lily Alaina Lynn Spangler, Danielle Mackenzie Brisson, Ethan David Brisson, Jared Borchers, Stephen Borchers and Gabrielle Borchers; and his great grandchild Paisley Brisson.
