She was predeceased by: her parents, Laurelston Dodson Lawson and Julia Francis Westmoreland Lawson; her husband James; her daughters, Julia Dawn and Lynn Leslie; and her siblings, Uella and Rosco.
She is survived by: her daughters, Susan Lee Kahl and Karen Jamie Cromer; her sons-in-law, Bob Kahl and David Agee; her grandchildren, Geoff, Jeremy Kahl, Valerie Cromer Ryan, Anna McLaughlin and Rachel Hall; and her nephew J. R. Lawson. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sloan Kettering Cancer Research Center or the First United Methodist Church in Newport News.
