He was predeceased by: his parents, Milton Mitchum and Mary Mitchum; his grandparents, Enoch Lanier Mitchum and Lucille Mitchum; and his brother Lester Mitchum.
He is survived by: his grandson Sonny Coy; his wife Christine Mitchum; his brother Lanier Mitchum (Annette); his stepsons, Jeremy Coy (Jasmine) and Todd Coy (Erin); his grandchildren, AJ, Anna, Summer, Aaron and Ava Jolene; and his friends, Darin Dixon, Dustin Martin, Jay Bell, Reid Fulp and Randy Mortdecai. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, November 3rd 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Graham Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church (3448 Mill Creek Rd, Newport, NC 28570). A memorial service was held on Monday, November 3rd 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
