He was predeceased by : his parents, James Isaac and Annie Shumate Roland; and his siblings, Ed Roland, Louise Blackburn, Vinia Absher, Lola Blackburn and Helen Prevette.

He is survived by : his wife Hazel Brown Roland; his son Benny Isaac Roland (Tonya) of North Wilkesboro; his granddaughter Jessica McCoy (Josh) of North Wilkesboro; his great grandchildren, Brylee and Grayson McCoy; and his brother Clay Roland (Edna) of Hays.
