He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Taft and Blanche Mae Higgins Pruitt; his son Ralph James Pruitt, Jr.; and his siblings, Lena Pruitt Wyatt, Howard Taft Pruitt, Jr. and Ray Emerson Pruitt.
He is survived by: his wife Sara Walker Pruitt; his daughters, ReGina Pruitt McNeil (Anthony) of Wilkesboro and Sonja Pruitt Stegall (Mitch) of North Wilkesboro; his grandchildren, Rachel McNeil Williams (Ethan) of Purlear, Monte Randall McNeil (Selina) of Wilkesboro and Skylar Elizabeth Stegall (Chris) of North Wilkesboro; his great grandchildren, Sara Grace Williams, Anna Leigh Williams, Walker Edward McNeil and Melody Rae McNeil; and his sister Ruby Jean Pruitt Osborne. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
