He was predeceased by : his parents, George Newton and Alma Phifer Newton; his wife Margie High Newton; and his son David Lewis Newton. He is survived by : his daughters, Peggy Little (Jamie) of Peachland, Cathy Autrey (Steve) of Monroe and Sylvia Newton of Charlotte; his sisters, Carol Whisnant of Mint Hill and Frances Hornback of Missouri; and his grandchildren, Dana Little Ward, Nathan Little and Brittany Smith. He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren.
