He was predeceased by: his parents, John Rexford Brown and Ruth Kemp Brown; his brother Bobby Rex Brown; and his sibling's children, Geraldine Ruth "Deanie" Akers and Francis Bryson Greene.

He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Brown (Libby); and his sibling's children, Timothy Markham Brown, Carol Jane Cast, Elizabeth Ann Kale and Faye Hinson Buchanan.
