He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy Irwin Winchester; his parents, Benjamin Tillman and Mary Garrett Winchester; and his siblings, Evelyn Breazeale, Elizabeth Howe, Martha Reavis, David and Hubert.
He is survived by: his children, Sue Temple (Calvin) of Hope Mills and Robert Winchester of Oregon City; his siblings, Leona Crowther of South Carolina, Christine Kearney of South Carolina, Mary Hull of South Carolina, Esther Kelley of South Carolina, Ruth Hinkle (Doug) of South Carolina, Janie Sorrells (Tommy) of South Carolina, Myrtie Cochran of South Carolina and Benjamin Winchester, Jr (Jeanette) of South Carolina; and his grandchildren, Melissa Coats (Ryan) of Newport News and Laura Mount (Justin) of Warrenton.
