He was predeceased by : his parents, William Hildreth and Emma Hildreth; his wife Diane Hildreth; and his siblings, Pete Furr, Ed Hildreth, Beatrice Haire, Beulah Hudson and Lois Ragland.

He is survived by : his daughter Connie Knight (Charles); his granddaughters, April Bess (Jarrod) and Lauren Knight; his great grandchildren, Noah Knight, Brynlee and Brystol Bess; and his sister Cora "Teane" Falk. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Polkton Baptist Church.
