He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace B. Walters Sr. and Lottie Pendergrass Walters; and his siblings, Horace B. Walters Jr. and Lilian Riley. He is survived by: his wife Gloria J. Walters of Raeford; his son Johnny D. Walters of Raeford; his granddaughter Cheyenne Walters of Laurinburg; and his siblings, Lorena Propst of China Grove and Bruce Walters (Paula) of Raeford. He is also survived by 4 nephews and 1 niece.
