We bid farewell to Joan D. Rankin of Reidsville, North Carolina, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on May 25, 2025 at the age of 81. She was predeceased by: her mother Ida Rankin Garrett; her stepfather Jack Garrett; her grandparents, Ida and Robert Rankin; her aunt Frances Apple; and her uncles, Riley Rankin, Leonard Rankin (Corrine) and Rufus Rankin (Cardella).
She is survived by: her daughter Monica Starks of Maryland; her siblings, George "Bill" Rankin (Marva) of Reidsville, NC, William Garrett (Vanessa) of Eden, NC, Wayne Garrett of Durham, NC and Sharon Garrett Crisp of Reidsville, NC; her granddaughter Chenal Starks of Georgia; her aunt Marjorie Rankin of Reidsville, NC; her nieces and nephews, Shawn Garrett (Charlotte), Darrel Adams, Miguel Clark, Wyatt Garrett, Garry Garrett Jr., Michael Adams, Tia Hill (Elliott), Carmon Hill (Tony), LaToya Alex (Jeramis) and Karen Adams; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Anari, Azaan Garrett, Mahlia, Trey Hill, Zoë, Ziva, Ashlee Hill, Kaleb, Korren Alex, Eddrick Apple, Michele Dillman (Donnie), Terry Apple, Mary Hall and Terry Starks.
Viewing was held on Friday, May 30th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home (721 E Morehead St, Reidsville, NC 27320). Visitation was held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church (420 Mizpah Church Rd, Reidsville, NC 27320). A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
