It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Jean Conner of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, born in Halifax, North Carolina, who passed away on October 30, 2020, at the age of 69, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Brooks Tart of Maryland and Mavis Scott Tart; her daughter Michelle Gums; and her granddaughter Tiffany Faison. She is survived by: her husband Gene Russell Conner; her daughters, Cheryl Clary and Sharon Durance Jenkins; her grandchildren, James Poythress, III, Ashleigh Ashburn, Bryan Ashburn, Lauren Ashburn, Shane Henderson, Robert Henderson, Sherry Hux Bankert, Timothy Hux, Jr., Charles Hux, Scotty Livesay, Katlyn Gums Wright, Michael Gums and Morgan Gums; and her siblings, Diane Tart Francis, Mary Tart Fain, Donald Tart, Sr. and Gerald Tart. She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
