She was predeceased by: her husband James Eugene Gibbs; her parents, Aretha Iola Lane and Jessie Thomas Colson; and her siblings, William Lee Colson, Jessie Marvin Colson and Catherine Imel.
She is survived by: her daughters, Angela Marie Gibbs (James Christopher Avery) of Beaufort, NC and Dawn Michelle Gibbs of Roanoke Rapids, NC; her granddaughters, Callie Jordan Brown of Beaufort, NC and Chelsea Marie Brown of Morehead City, NC; her brother Jerry R. Colson (Debra Colson) of Winterville; her sister-in-law Margaret P. Colson of Rich Square, NC.; and her daughter Moosie.
