She is survived by: her children, Julius Earl Merritt, Jr. (Gloria) of Roanoke Rapids and Tammy Smith (William) of Roanoke Rapids; and her siblings, Clinton Howard, Brenda "Polly" Gibson, Mary Garoutte and Fluffy.
