He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Lillie Lawson Lane and John Early Lane; his wife Ethel Mae Davis Lane; his grandson Aaron Dickerson Lane; his siblings, Catherine, Harvey, Dewey, Zenna and Arbon Lane; his children, Bettie Lane, Deborah Johnson, Melvin Lane, Jr., Duane Lane (Norma), Melanie Graves (Levaniel) and Cobey Lane; his brothers, Willie Lane (Verdell) and John Henry Lane (Suzie); and his siblings-in-law, Airlene Stockton (Douglas) and Charles Davis (Mae). He was also cherished by 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.
