He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Javan Tilley, Sr. and Myrtle Mae Fulp Tilley; his significant other Ruth Via Hopper; his brother Eddie Tilley; and his grandchildren, Devon Trey-Paul Swaim and Jacy Bleu Swaim.
He is survived by: his grandchild Tar Heels; his children, Amy Tilley Morgan (Harold) of Kernersville, James Swaim of Kernersville and Jeanie Thomas of Atlanta, Georgia; his grandchildren, Jimmy "Vann" Swaim, Destiny Law, Miranda Jo Morgan (Noah) and Levi Dwight Morgan; his great grandchildren, Addison Jade Swaim and Kenzleigh Bleu Swaim; and his siblings, Roger Steve Tilley (Marie) of Madison, Joann Tilley Martin (Jimmy) of Stoneville and Bobby G. Tilley (Susan) of Madison. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
