He was predeceased by: his parents, Taylor McDonald and Sudie Barwick Swails; his wife Helen Goodwin Swails; and his siblings, Claude, Harris, Clayton, T. D. Swails, Eunice Thompson, Viola Patterson, Bonnie Webb, Pauline Patterson and Etta Gillis.
He is survived by: his son Sonny Swails (Cathy); his grandchildren, Tal Swails (Missy) and Blaire Swails Lee (John); and his great grandchildren, Taylor Swails, Tucker Swails and Jackson Swails Lee.
