He was predeceased by: his parents, George Overby and Lelia Dorsett Overby; his children, Curtis Overby and Michelle Nowlin; and his siblings, Freddy Overby and Rebecca Cook.
He is survived by: his wife Wanda Higgins Overby; his sons, Stan Overby of Lewisville, Jeff Overby of Eden, Clint Simpson (Angela) of Eden and Adam Simpson (Samantha Williams) of Danville, VA; his grandchildren, Stephanie Washburn of Wilmington, Jordan Overby of Eden, Sydney Gammons (Stephen) of Eden, Sarah Williams of Danville, VA, Sara Overby of Winston-Salem, Matthew Simpson of Eden, Heather, Justin Craw, Kaitlyn, Madelyn and Evelyn of Georgia; and his brothers, Morris Knutsen of South Dakota and Stanley Skirmont of Illinois. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
