He was predeceased by: his parents, William Franklin and Gertrude Morris Thomas; his wife Emma Chavis Thomas; his son James Randall Thomas; his son-in-law William H. "Bill" Scott; and his siblings, Robert, Benson, Wyman (Bill Thomas) and Katherine Thomas (Frances Thomas Hinson).
He is survived by: his daughter Gwen Thomas Scott; his grandsons, Rayme Dale Mudd (Julia) and William Hicks Scott, Jr. (Leslie); and his great grandchildren, Mary Marlowe Scott, Emily Raylin Scott and William Hicks Scott, III.
