He was predeceased by: his parent Gus Chavis; and his siblings, Clara Smith, Lana Jacobs, Nancy Blynt Chavis, Elbert Chavis, Gus Chavis, Jr. and Chambliss Chavis.
He is survived by: his parent Sadie Wilkes Chavis; his wife Linda Chavis; his children, Lorie Arnold of Jesup, GA, Darla Mabe (William) of Rockingham, Kay Moates (Carl) of Rockingham and Michael Odom (Terri) of Rockingham; and his sister Geneva Huggins of Maxton. He is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
