He was predeceased by: his parents, James Linwood and Lila Chappell Dawkins; his wife Jane Thrower Dawkins; and his brother Clay Dawkins. He is survived by: his siblings, Ann Dennis (Dean) of Ellerbe, Barry Dawkins (Pam) of Ellerbe and Tim Dawkins (Susan) of Rockingham; and his close friend Ginger McLain.
