She was predeceased by : her parents, Lauless Lewis and Maggie Mae Bass Lewis; and her siblings, Helen Altman and Harvey Lewis. She is survived by : her husband Edwin R. Nixon; her sons, Michael Melton (Nonalie) of Concord and Shane Melton (Angela) of Raleigh; her stepdaughter Tina Marie Porter; her siblings, John Lewis of Georgia and Magalene Hines of Raleigh; her grandchildren, Jamie Barbour (Derek), Cristopher Melton (Alyssa), Bobby Chavis (Samantha), David Hughes and Robert Hughes; and her great grandchild Anberlyn Barbour.
