He was predeceased by : his parents, William Wilson Hawkins and Virginia McCormick Hawkins; and his wife Valinda "Lynn" Faye Garrett Hawkins. He is survived by : his siblings, Terry Hawkins (Ritva) of Roxboro and Janice Owen of Semora; and his niece Faydra Williams of Semora.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, April 28th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Roxboro Kingdom Hall (5411 Boston Rd, Roxboro, NC 27574).
