Juanita Newton Obituary

We are sad to announce that on October 6, 2021, at the age of 77, Juanita Newton of Rutherfordton, North Carolina, born in Boydton, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Oliver Clinton Poteat and Violet Jones Poteat; and her husband Johnny Lee Newton. She is survived by : her children, Dawn Newton Gadd (Raymond) of Chattanooga, TN, Russ Newton (Penny) of Rutherfordton and Vic Newton (Jenny) of Asheville; her brothers, Ray Poteat of Forest City and George "G. L."; her grandchildren, Ashley Gadd Simpson (Bart), Lindsay Gadd, David Gadd, Leah Gadd, Haley Newton Fenner (Mason), Holly Newton, Maggie Gadd, Emma Newton, Heidi Newton, Cade Newton, Hannah Newton and Yates Newton; and her great grandchildren, Crew Simpson, Cove Simpson, Cora Simpson and Sammy Itodo.

For the safety of those attending, the family respectfully request that masks and social distancing be observed.
