It is with great sadness that we announce the death of George Smith (Sanford, North Carolina), who passed away on February 4, 2020, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ravin Smith and Artie Lee Crump Smith; his wife Ethel "Darlene" Brooks; and his siblings, William, Ravin, Donald, Robert and Linda Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Katrina Smith of Texas, Donald "Tony" Smith (Katrina K.) of Florida and Kevin Smith (Katrina C.) of Maryland; his son-in-law Ralph Martin Jr. of Virginia; his sisters, Lola Partridge of Pittsboro, NC, Carrie Lee Hackney of Moncure, NC and Helen "Joann" Matthews (Hubert) of Moncure, NC; his grandchildren, Erica, Jason, Demetrius, Jamien, Jermain, Kevin, Kyree and Donald Omari; his great grandchildren, Amani, Brianna, Dylan and Zion; his aunts, Nora Smith of Moncure, NC and Robena McCrimmon; his cousin Charles "Pete" Dowd of Hickory, NC; and his close friends, Willie "Tinebo" Crump of New Hill, NC, Carrol Shaw, Landover, MD, Leah Middleton and Annie B. Toomer. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
