She was predeceased by: her parents, Thurman Elmo and Nannie Walker Lovegrove; her husbands, George Howard Sorie, Sr. and W. R. "Pete" Staton; her son Ronald Lee Staton; her granddaughter-in-law Kim Hale; and her sisters, Margaret Henderson and Hattie Davis.
She is survived by: her children, George H. Sorie (Bettie) of Merritt Island, FL, Randy Staton of Scotland Neck and Nancy Staton James (Eddie) of Robersonville; her daughter-in-law Polly Staton of Scotland Neck; her grandson Grant Staton (Susan); her great grandchildren, Matthew of Scotland Neck, Jessica of Scotland Neck and Savanna of Scotland Neck; her grandchild Davie Hale (April) of Greenville; her great grandchild Hannah of Everett; her grandson Patrick Staton (Amber); her great grandchildren, Samantha of Scotland Neck, Zachary of Scotland Neck, Joey of Scotland Neck, Logan of Scotland Neck, Will of Scotland Neck, Mandy Staton Hasty (John) and Sugar Hale Edwards (Jason); and also, Caleb of Kernersville, Katherine, James, Luke of Rocky Mount, Pete of Rocky Mount, Mack of Rocky Mount, Evie of Rocky Mount, Emily Hale (James Roebuck), Lily of Robersonville and Grady of Robersonville. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and friends that became her family.
