He is survived by: his wife Betty Renfrow Strickland; his children, Robin Strickland (Connie Hollingsworth) of Raleigh, Teresa S. Lane (Jeff) of Selma and Myra S. Peedin (Larry "Bobby") of Selma; his sisters, Barbara Pritchard (Edward) and Joan Lassiter (Harold) of Four Oaks; his sister-in-law Betty C. Strickland of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Morgan Messick (Chad) of Statesville, Spencer Lane (Meredith) of Clayton, Hayden Lane of Selma, Joshua Peedin of Selma, Drake Peedin of Selma and Nolan Peedin of Selma; and his great grandchildren, Paisley Messick, Kane Messick and Hunter Lane. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
