She was loved and cherished by many people including : her parents, Rufus King and Gilliland of Missouri; her husband Charles B. Smith; her grandson Geoffrey Smith (Lisa Scott); her sons, Glenn R. Smith (Kaye) of Kernersville and Wayne Smith (Denise) of Siler City; her close friend Audrey Causey of Siler City; her grandchildren, Kim Kitchings (Chip), Kim Smith and Brittany Owens (Ben); and her great grandchildren, Corey Newby, Gracelyn Kitchings, Zane Crumpler, Wrenn Smith, Kayden Crumpler, Chase Kitchings, Caroline Kitchings, Scarlett Owens and Maverick Owens. She was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.
