He was predeceased by: his parents, Bessie Hoyt and Reverend Frederick Hoyt Sr.; and his siblings, Allen Hoyt and Helen Hoyt. He is survived by: his former wife Charlotte Hoyt of Smithfield; his daughter Dr. Stephanie Hoyt-Trapp of Jacksonville; his granddaughter Bess Hoyt of Melbourne, Florida.; his son Fred; his daughter-in-law Cathy Hoyt of Smithfield; and his grandchildren, Cameron Hoyt of Smithfield and Nathan Hoyt of Fort Collins, Colorado..

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church or Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital in his name.
