She was predeceased by: her parents, Theodore Alston and Floree Carroll Simpson; and her children, Frances Anne Joyner May, William Thomas Joyner (Labo) and Benjamin Joyner.
She is survived by: her husband Reverend Joshua Burgess; and her children, Donald Ray Joyner (Cecilia), Gerald Joyner (Wynee), Shelvia Joyner Davis (Walter) and Shelia Joyner Morton. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
