He was predeceased by: his parents, George William and Mavin Wray Lane; his sons, Keith Lane and Kenneth Ray Lane; and his siblings, Katherine Vail Tarlton, William "Bill" (Sarah), Jacob, Durwood, Robert, Patricia Myers Dice and Beulah Jackson (Milford).
He is survived by: his wife Martha Tingen Lane; his children, Gene Lane of White Lake and Karen Slocumb of Four Oaks; his stepson Franklin Dell Whaley of Smithfield; his brother David John Lane (Linda) of Bellevue, TX; and his sister-in-law Nancy Lane of Angier. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
