He is survived by: his wife Clara H. Powell; his children, Spencer Evander Powell, III of Smithfield and Sheila Whitley (Stacey) of Smithfield; his siblings, Donnie Ray Powell of Smithfield and Bonnie P. Wood of Farmville; and his grandchildren, Wil Whitley (Jordan), Alex Whitley and Spencer S. Powell.
