He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret Wheeler Edwards; his siblings, David Junior Edwards, Eva Edwards Hoppers (Hassell) and Elsie Edwards Cooper (Charles); and his brothers-in-law, Ernest Cleary and Donald Howland.
He is survived by: his children, Burton Leff Edwards, Jr. of Wilkesboro, Carol Edwards Perdue (Bill) of Glade Valley and Eva Edwards Mathers (Scott) of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Burton Russell Edwards (Angela) of Woodlawn, VA, Luke Wheeler Mathers of Raleigh and Rachel Elise Mathers of Raleigh; and his sisters, Ethel Edwards Cleary of Sparta and Doris Edwards Howland of Broadway. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Alleghany 4-H, PO Box 7, Sparta, NC 28675, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
