It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Hobert Dowell (Sparta, North Carolina), born in Piney Creek, North Carolina, who passed away on March 18, 2020, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Roosevelt Dowell and Vennia Jones Dowell; his wife Pauline Lugene Dowell; his siblings, Roosevelt Dowell (RV), John Paul Dowell, Robert Dowell, James Dowell, Thomas Dowell, Lena Mullins, Faye Baldwin, Georgia Billings, Josie Hall and Dora Mae Kilby; and his nephew Hobert Aaron Dowell.
He is survived by: his children, Nancy Darlene Dietle (Marlin) of Kingsville, MD, Judith Elaine Smith (Eric) of Ferguson, Barbara Dowell Wilson (Kenneth) of Ennice and Samuel Ivan Dowell of Ennice; his daughter-in-law Edna Lyons Dowell of Glade Valley; his brothers, Ivan Dowell (Alice) of Maryland, Eugene Dowell of Maryland and Roger Dowell (Dorothy) of Georgia; and his siblings-in-law, Virginia Brackins, Shirley Brackins, Linda Dowell, Patty Tharpe, Imogene Brackins, Bill Brackins and Jack Kilby. He is also survived by five grandchildren, three great-grandsons, several step-great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
