He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Lewis and Lena Gaugler Thompson; his wife Betty Louise Crandall Thompson; his grandson William Bryan Adkins; his sisters, Elizabeth Thompson and Catherine Cook; and his son-in-law Arthur "Skeeter" Newton.
He is survived by: his children, Tommy Thompson (Martha) of Sparta, Dottie Dorsett (Ted) of Sparta, Donna Newton of High Point and Ann Johnson (Tom) of High Point. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
