She was predeceased by: her parents, Lawnie Harrison and Bessie Baugus Brooks; her husband William Frank Choate; her son Reid Choate; and her siblings, Eva Campbell, Lorene Presnell, Lacy Brooks and Clayton Brooks.
She is survived by: her daughters, Gail Choate of Reidsville, GA and Elva Cheek (Dean) of Greensboro; her granddaughter Lynn Young (Todd) of Rosewell, GA; her great grandchildren, Lindsay Young of Roswell, GA and Olivia Young of Roswell, GA; her siblings, Zane Brooks of Jonesville, Nelson Brooks (Patti) of Otis, OR, Wayne Brooks (Barbara) of Cedar Park, TX, Gertrude Crouse of Sparta, Mary Alice Hudson of Sparta and Viola Shaw of Sparta; and her sister-in-law Norma Brooks of Clemmons. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
