He was predeceased by: his parents, Cashes Buchanan and Alene Buchanan (Harris); his daughter Ginnie Sue Buchanan; and his siblings, Jimmie Buchanan (Betty), Lucille Turpin (Allison) and Lillian Hahlbeck (Warren).
He is survived by: his wife Alice (Franks); his children, Donna Byrd (Ben), Vicki Lynn Walk (Dennis), Mark Anthony Buchanan, Carl Sam Buchanan Jr. (Stacey) and Christopher Shane Buchanan (Emily); and his sisters, Mildred Monteith (Junior) and Kate Stone (Major). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
