He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie "Ode" Cope and Bonnie Mills Cope; his wife Pauline Plemmons Cope; his siblings, Irene Mills, Mary Ida Blanton, Dorothy Pate, Eunice Peters, Peggy Jo Williams, Donald Levi Cope, Gene Cope and Dan Cope; and his granddaughter Brandy Cope Hubbard.
He is survived by: his children, Eddie Cope (Peggy) of Sylva and Karen Buchanan (Davis) of Elijay, GA; his siblings, Sue Felkins of Carl Junction, MO, Joyce Plemmons (Clyde) of Clinton, TN, Jim Cope (Debbie) of Penrose, NC and Donald Alton Cope (Carol Ann) of Sylva; his grandchildren, Brandy Sutherland (Teddy), Jeremy Buchanan and Keta McCall (Desten); his sisters-in-law, Susie Cope of Waynesville, Nell Moss and Naomi Turpin of Sylva; and his close friends, Troy McMahan and Jerry Thompson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
