With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Rebecca Mathis of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, who passed away on October 17, 2025 at the age of 81. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Christine Moses and Curtis Watson; her husband Jamie Mathis; and her son James Mathis (Alex). She is survived by: her children, Pamela Sue Mathis Grady, Sandra White (Scott) and Eddie Mathis; her grandchildren, Darrin Mathis (Christy), Jason Lambert (Bailey), Sage Mathis and Gareth Mathis (Krista); her great grandchildren, Kaydance Mathis, Kayley Mathis and Jaxon Lambert; and her sisters, Ruby Grigsby and Josephine Robbins.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Appalachian Funeral Services (165 Skyland Dr, Sylva, NC 28779). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Promise Land Baptist Church (8359 NC-107, Cullowhee, NC 28723).
