It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sarah Margaret Barrett (Sylva, North Carolina), born in Birmingham, Alabama, who passed away on November 17, 2019, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jesse Cleveland Counts and Margaret Lykes Counts; and her sister Annie Belle Counts. She is survived by: her husband Dr. Arnold Lankford Barrett; her children, Cynthia Barrett Sumerel (Jim), Margaret Barrett Alexander (Joe) and Layne Arnold Barrett (Angela); her grandchildren, Jason Barrett (Krystin), Charlie Sumerel (Nicole), Matthew Barrett, Daniel Sumerel (Ashley), Sarah Alexander and Jonathan Olund; her great grandchildren, Marley Barrett, Harper and Nora Sumerel; her pet Mason; her sisters, Jeanette Blackmon and Helene Counts; and her sisters-in-law, Rachel Murdock and Lantie Gibbs (Lawrence). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, friends.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Sarah Margaret's memory may be made to Webster United Methodist Church, SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC, or any other charity of one's choosing.
