She was predeceased by: her parents, Carver Best and Nannie Best; her husband James Calvin Cox, Sr.; and her siblings, Olene Russ, Dot Vaught and Lowell Best.
She is survived by: her sons, James Calvin Cox, Jr. (Janice) of Archdale, NC, William Earl Cox (Michelle) of Ocean Isle, NC and Paul Alan Cox (Faye) of Ocean Isle, NC.; her sister Kate Blackmon of Jacksonville, FL; and her grandchildren, Chad Cox (Lindsey), Brandon Cox (Adrienne), Angela Cox, Mindy Robinson and Jimmy Faulk. She is also survived by great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 14th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Old Zion Wesleyan Church (10144 Swamp Fox Hwy E, Tabor City, NC 28463).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont in honor of Evelyn's compassionate spirit and the care they provided her.
