She was predeceased by: her parents, William Jethro and Emily Cook Wood; her son Joseph Carey Gaskins; and her siblings, Frank Wood, Thomas Wood, Joe Wood, Sr., Catherine Long, Claudia Smith and Virginia Livingston.
She is survived by: her children, Jeffrey Gaskins (Elaine) of Tabor City, NC, Mark Gaskins (JoAnn) of Wilmington, NC and Deborah Sue Gaskins of Martinsville, VA. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or Iron Hill Baptist Church, 24320 Peacock Rd., Tabor City, NC 28463.
