He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Jane Ellen Wannemacher Hammer; his parents, Bertha Baldwin and Joseph Hammer; his sons, Peter Donald Jr. (Danielle) of Forked River, NJ and Donald Clifford (Carrie) of Forked River, NJ; his grandchildren, Gavin D'Adamo, Abigail Dehler, Colin Hammer, Garrett D'Adamo, Sarah Dehler, Paige Hammer, Grayson D'Adamo, Owen Hammer and Jaxon Dehler; his children, Marine Corps, Linden, NJ Transit Police Officer, Ellen L. Hammer (Scott Nicosia) of Brown Summit, NC and Jean Dehler (David) of Green Sea, SC; his sisters, Barbara Bettle and Christine Fela; and his pet Lacy. He was also cherished by his loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends.
