He is survived by: his spouse Janet P. Gay; his father Joseph Edward Gay of Tarboro; his daughters, Lois Marie Coley of Nashville and Michelle Lynn Gay (Jerry Wayne Hollis) of Fountain; his stepchildren, Marty Barnes (Phyllis) of Wilson and Windy Boswell of Wilson; his brother Joe Gay (Cathy) of Macclesfield; his grandchildren, Kristopher Proctor, Montana Coley and Cassey Hollis; and his stepgranddaughters, Kawin Barnes, Meghan Boswell and Rachel Boswell. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, along with a host of family friends, nieces, nephews.
