She was predeceased by: her parents, Bessie Rebecca Kirkland Barnes and James Edward Barnes; her husband John Rodgers Grimes, Sr.; and her sisters, Myrtle Barnes Anderson of Tarboro and Lois Barnes Jenkins of Union Grove.
She is survived by: her children, Angela Grimes Greene (Wes) of Moorsevlle and John Rodgers Grimes, Jr. (Nell); her grandchildren, John Rodgers Grimes, III (Sterling), Travis Jackson Grimes (Sally) and Sarah Allsbrook Fulcher of Charlotte; her great grandchildren, Carr, Reade Grimes, Jax, Tilly and Collins Grimes; and her brother-in-law Jerry Speight Grimes (Katie) of Big Springs. She is also survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
