He was predeceased by: his parents, Levy Gardner and Emily Gardner; and his brothers, L. D., Hilton and Larry.

He is survived by: his close friend Josie Strickland; his sons, David Gardner (Toni), Kevin Gardner and Kendall Strickland; his sisters, Reba Pollard, Marie Brown, Sue Harrell of Fountain, Nettie Gardner and Ann Cooper; and his sisters-in-law, Rachel Gardner of Pinetops and Carol Gardner of Kinston.

The family asks that donations to your favorite charity be made in Tommy's name in lieu of flowers.
