He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Franklin and Sara Nichols; and his brother Jimmy Nichols. He is survived by: his wife Faye Hathaway Nichols; his brother Richard Franklin "Frank" Nichols; his children, Eddie Nichols, Bobby Nichols (Kim), John Chapman, Jr. (Jamie) and Amy Chapman; his grandchildren, Katie Summers (Matt), Christopher Nichols (Anna), Emily Coble (Conner), Caroline Sides (Logan), Andrew Nichols, John Henry Chapman, III (Jenn), Tiffany Barber (Cameron), Logan and Ashton; and his great grandchildren, Landon Coble, Brooklyn and Brayden Barber.
