She is survived by: her children, Billy Ray Medford of Rocky Mount, Teresa Mendenhall Ruffin of Princeville and Susan Whitehurst Deal (David) of Tarboro; her grandchildren, John Cook (Kristy, Summer Cook), Miranda Cook, Emily Cook, Cindy Mendenhall, Kiara Mendenhall, Damien Mendenhall, Sean Adamski, Annie Mendenhall, Mircale Andrews, Paige Medford, Hayden Ezzell, Ryder Ezzell, Clara Williams, Whitney Barfield (David, Hannah Barfield), Tori Medford, Cheyenne Hill, Katie Hill, Eddie Ray Hill, Cody Medford (Allyson Swinson, Brenten) and Mckenzie Whitehurst; and her sisters, Nancy Taylor, Juanita Baker (Joe) and Melanie Whitfield Johnson.
